‘A watershed moment in the history of food…’ Cultivated meat edges closer to commercialization in the US as UPSIDE Foods gets FDA green light

Cultivated meat â made from animal cells grown in bioreactors instead of living breathing animals â has edged one step closer to commercialization in the US after the FDA sent Berkeley-based UPSIDE Foods a âno questionsâ letter affirming the safety of its process for chicken in a move one investor predicted would cause a âdomino effectâ among regulatory bodies around the world.
